How do you know that your dog enjoys being a therapy dog?

Jamie eagerly goes up to people on our therapy visits and will sit forever just being petted.

Any other information that you would like to include about your dog:

Jamie’s best friend is his young sister, Lizzy. They play together every day.

In Memory

We said goodbye to our beloved Jamie last night after a long battle with bladder cancer. He had been doing fairly well since he was diagnosed last summer but two days ago he began showing signs of increased restlessness, pain and agitation. We did not want to see him suffer any more. He slipped away peacefully last night in Don’s arms.

Jamie was 2 months short of his 12th birthday. He was so smart and loving. We enjoyed our times competing in obedience, rally, agility and nosework. But his lasting impact was his work as Don’s therapy dog. Jamie and Don developed an incredible partnership during their 4 years together.

At the end, as the vet was getting ready to give the final injection, Jamie kissed Don softly as if to say “it’s OK—I’m ready. Thank you for letting me go”.

Our hearts are broken. What a wonderful gift this sweet boy was to us.
