The PAWSitive Therapy Troupe is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to sharing registered therapy dogs with individuals in a wide variety of health care and educational settings--bringing comfort, support and encouragement through the unique healing power of the human-animal bond.

Personality

Abbie is a happy little dog who loves to be carried and petted on her therapy dog visits. She was born with a genetic defect of a severe luxating patella. She learned to live with her disability, but in 2010 she finally had surgery to correct her knee cap. She is back enjoying her visits at Hines.

Training

Abbie has taken confirmation obedience classes for fun. Her favorite self-taught trick is to sit up and start begging with her front paws - this is known as the "happy pappy".

How Do You Know That Your Dog Loves Therapy Work?

When she is interacting with a patient, her ears go up. This is one way she tells me she is happy.
